You only need to look up and see the vast amount of cranes in the skyline to know that Barking and Dagenham like many other boroughs is changing rapidly through regeneration.

This is great news, but only 11% of the workforce nationally is women.

Our role here at the BEC is to support all types of businesses. We wanted to support a network for women who work in construction. You may work in the industry, or aspire to, or own a small business in construction, whoever you are you, wherever you are based you are very welcome to join us.

We are delighted that these sessions will be run by Clare Coombs, who has worked in construction for a number of years.

So join us, no formal agenda, just inspirational women and speakers who wish to network.

Clare Coombe is the Employment & Skills Coordinator for Barking Riverside working with contractors across the borough to enhance Construction career opportunities, upskill local residents and support contractors to fulfil their Section 106 Employment & Skills obligations.

Clare has over 20 years experience promoting sector skills and employability across various industries with 5 years experience specialising in Construction. Over recent years Clare has focused provision to promote construction careers for women and developed training and onsite initiatives to enhance female presence accross site.
